I must've lost my mind. I hate running. Yet I run my second 5K ever today. I think that's around 3 miles in American measurement (may we never change over systems or I'm going to have problems adjusting *lol*). There was close to 100 people participating (Yeah, it was a small affair) in this fundraiser in the neighborhood. I was happy that I at least did decent by getting 36th place and finishing in 37 Minutes and 14 seconds; beating my previous time of 39 and some-odd minutes. It was so hard resisting eating that birthday chocolate I got before the race started. T_T So yeah, needless to say I've been doing recovery and taking easy the rest of today. Especially since I don't exactly make a habit of running multiple miles. Aaaand let me just say there were WAY too many hills on this course. Like 5 or 6. With one that seemed to go on for a ridiculous amount of time.

SO ANYWAYS, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

PS-Friday I went to a Japanese restaurant (Nagano's) for my birthday. The food was just AMAZING!If you can manage to go one of these days I TOTALLY recommend it.

I've just decided to stop putting things off and do an artist of the month. I'm also weaning through the DA messages and working my way into the messages. Then I'll deal with club and regular notes. So sorry for not dealing with those yet, but I usually like to deal with those after I deal with Deviations, Journals, and favorites. So please bear with me on my horrid tardiness. Oh!And I have a poll up about manga. Answering it is going to help me decide what manga I'm going to talk about here next (non-watchers can also answer this poll of course). -> rhythm-wily.deviantart.com/jou…

Anways! This month's artist of the month is going to Raayzel ! She's from Australia and does some cute, colorful, and beautiful artwork! Big emphasis on the colorful part as it's kinda hard for me to stop looking at them given the use of the combination of use of lighting and vivid colors. I totally say this gallery is worth a look at least.

Last movie dump for a while. I promise. ^^;

As for Get On Up...Well, it's WAY better than that Jersey Boys movie (It's about the 4 Seasons) which seemed WAY too obsessed with the mob ties than talking about their musical innovations (I consider that movie a C- BTW). This one actually has a nice balance in between telling about James Brown's story and his music and how those relationships affected those around him. As for James Brown himself...Well...I consider him an egotistical jerk-face. I feel kinda bad for his backup musicians that had  to put up with things like not geting paid for weeks or being screwed over by the record company. It's a shame since he's so charismatic. He could've had more friends if he didn't get in his own way. I kinda regret seeing the movie at night since it was hard staying awake for the last 30 minutes or so.

Grade: C+

Let's Be Cops was a hilarious movie. I found myself laughing several times and was happy to hear some old school music thrown in! XD It also makes an interesting statement about people's desire to put up a front and not be considered a "loser" by others. It's also nice that it makes references to cops in the movies too. So it is leaning on the 4th wall a bit. I just noticed Rotten Tomatoes gave it 11% and Audience gave it 66%. Uhm, I guess my tastes ae outside the main stream? Oh well. I liked it and that's all that matters. It's a silly little movie that I didn't take too seriously.

Admittedly it's kind of a "chick flick" type of romance movie, but it's balanced out with cooking, comedy, and an Indian family moving to France to start a new life. I like that even the romances were tastefully done and weren't too sappy and there's no sex (implied or otherwise) in the movie. The only dull part is a certain part of the movie where the protagonist temporarily leaves France near the end of the movie. The transition just felt forced and I found myself starting to wish that the movie was over at that point.

Grade: B-

PS- A couple of women were talking a little too much during the movie for my tastes. Shushing did not help. ^^; I really got tempted to yell "Shut up!" A couple of times.

The trailer for this movie is VERY VERY deceptive. Let's just say it makes you question what is legend and what is real. What is a hero? Who was Hercules? What is right? What is wrong? It takes the legend and really did something interesting with it I didn't expect.

Grade: B

When my dad had said Robin Williams had died I thought he was pulling my leg and thusly ignored him. Then I go and see that it wasn't a joke. He really is dead. He was one of my favorite actors growing up so it's really still a shock to me. I think the very first thing I ever saw him in was that old Mork and Mindy TV show. From what I understand is he commited suicide. That's just too sad. I didn't even know he had a struggle with mental illness. Sorry if I'm kinda rambling about, but I just felt like putting my feelings on the matter down here.

PS-What was the first thing you ever saw Robin Williams in?

I ask because I realize I'm probably not going to be able to catch it since I didn't think to grab tickets in advance. Curse the limited release! Is it worth scrounging around for or should I just wait till it comes out on YouTube or DVD or TV or something? Just wondering.
