Angel

When I stare out upon the sea,
Tears form in each eye,
An angel watches over me,
As I struggle not to cry.

High atop a rocky cliff there I stand alone,
The tears now streaming down my face,
Not wanting to go back home,
I just stared out into space.

He was gone, he was dead,
The words kept repeating in my brain,
I wished these thoughts would leave my head,
For they were driving me insane.

An instant passed, the silence broke, as someone called my name,
Then I turned to see who spoke,
As in my dreams she was the same,
On my words I began to choke.

An angel donning robe of purist white,
There she stood as clear as day,
Seeming to shine of brilliant light,
What else would this cherub say?

I’ve a message for you little one,
From your deceased father up above,
Stop shedding tears, have lots of fun,
And that he sends you his deepest love.

He asks about you every day,
I felt you must know this,
Each night your father would kneels and pray,
That your pain could turn into bliss.

Other words were exchanged that now have left my mind,
But I might recall them if asked later on,
I promised to be a stronger person; my words became my bind,
She gave me a soft smile and then was gone.

I turned my back upon the sea and ran,
My mending heart was still sore,
To grow up happy was my plan,
And that day I grew up a little bit more.
Just a poem I did on the side as an attempt to try something more on the sad/emotional/less happy side. Which I suppose it isn't so sad because it has a happy message at the end! I have mixed feelings about this poem but since I put up my assignment based poetry I decided to put this non-assignment based poetry up as well.
