Fantasy Self Portrait

Our teacher considered doing this project after we did our value and contour self portraits(here->[link] and here->[link]). The funny thing is she e-mailed us telling us we'd be doing this project and to bring toned paper...But only 2 people got the message.So we went in totally surprised on this project and w/ no ideas on how we were going to start!*lol*

That defineately included me even if this crazy picture may not indicate as much. The sun/moon w/ the random radials of light came from a magazine that had an architectural building w/ a cuircular opening on it. That was done in oil pastels as were the orbs of light(minus the one I'm "holding" in my hand),fairies, and the "blades" of grass(sword blades referanced via my katanaXD). I used colored pencil on the figure of myself and the scenary underneath the rays of light. A movie called the Never Ending story (there was a sequal too) was my inspiration for this fantasy landscape. Just thinking of things or places I'd imagine being there helped my creativity. There were many different colors that went into the colored penciled background. I used different patches of color in non-uniform ways to almost give things a kaleidoscope effect. Then I went over the whole thing in purple but made sure you could still see the underlying colors. Another correcting thing I did was give the blades of grass(some people said they looked more like crystals...But this IS fantasy landscape so that's fine too!) contour lines so they didn't blend in so much w/ the back ground.
