Rock On Summer

Done for ~Maqqy96's MMSwimsuit contest! Kudos to ~suraida-chan for letting me know this was going on(I knew it had in previous years but always missed it!). She's also the one who gave me the idea of doing the manga styled boxes for a background. Instead of doing a more detailed background I decided to break down the basic 4 colors of the beach: sun,sky,sea, and sand. I then thatched over the boxes to make it more look like a collaged cloth patches or like it was moving textures.

After finishing the boxes I was kinda not liking the BG being plain white so I came up with the idea of using my Golden Sakura Gel Pen to do cross hatching with the background. I didn't try and do a thick matt and tried to do an uneven even texture. It's shinier in the light than what it looks here but I still like how it turned out. It really gives warmth to the picture. Before with the white it just seemed so...Sterile.

As for Aile herself...I chose her hairstyle from the first game since I hate her hairstyle in the second game! This is my first time EVER trying to draw her so keep that in mind. I also know I can't draw her ear plugs to save my life. I struggled so much with that! It was a challenge posing her arms but I think I did good considering I didn't use any real referancing. She's trying to pose but the sun is getting in the corner of one of eyes! I know the swimsuit is simple(and not a bikini) but I felt that it suited Aile. To me she wouldn't be the type of person to wear a bikini...But more of a onepiece solid type color. I chose to make the "CAPCOM" on her swimsuit gold instead of the regular yellow because it more went with the hue of the swimsuit. In hindsight I love that it plays off the gold BG. As for the feet I was experimenting with the feet there. I kind of like this stylized version of the feet.

On a final note is the beachball. I remember on an episode of "What Not To Wear" Stacy mentioning that red and blue was a very French color combination. So I decided to try it. I kept the bottom of the beachball white in an homage to Independance day(it IS in the same month). I decided having her name on it along with her game appearances(ZX and ZXA) would be a nice personal touch as well. For the record YES IT'S POSSIBLE TO HAVE THE BEACHBALL LIKE THAT AGAINST YOUR BODY! *Ahem* I've done it before.
