An ode to Neurotransmitters

The acetylcholine transmitters help with not only talking,
They enable typing and breathing as well as walking,
Dopamine makes you glad and move at will,
But unbalanced levels can make you mentally ill,
GABA inhibits and calms you down,
When you’re stressed from traffic downtown,
Serotonin helps you stay asleep and awake,
For imbalanced levels some pills you must take,
Endorphins are like a natural drug,
They ease the pain if punched in the mug.

All things must end they cannot last forever
The old man’s words were a piercing reality
One I didn’t want to hear
One I  didn’t want to face

Watching the last grain of sand leave the hour glass
The sun falls past the mountains
The finishing of a book’s last page
Even our own lives will eventually end

But don’t feel woe
Take heart! Hold your head high!
For all will live in ones memory
Even if the time itself passes by

This was on a 2-day Biology camping/fieldtrip to the smokey mountains.....Luckily I was able to capture a cute little squirrell climbing a tree. What's even more interesting is the man on the right trying to take the same picture.
