I didn't forget about this series! I promise! It's just on the back burner as well as when I'm in the mood. It was a true challenge taking on Sailor Moon as the next subject of my "Sailor Moon manga version" series. There are SO MANY conventions for Sailor Moon in her manga illustraions as well as special illustrations that it was a bit overwhelming to say the least. I'll point out one mistake in that the crescent moons on her gloves are upside down. Oops. I also chose to leave out the cape convention as I felt it more seemed to serve the purpose of the background drop rather than being much of a notable detail. The boots are manga exclisive, the hair beads (they appear in later seasons in the anime but not in season 1), her mask, the hairbun ornaments, the weird boomerand piece under her bow, her broach, her choaker, her gloves, the looseness of her skirt(it's more streamlined and not as flowy in the anime), and even her hair color! Yes, there are original illustrations that have her hair as white.
Drawing all these details nearly killed me. I'm glad they simplified the design in the anime version. Seriously, could you imagine having to animate all this stuff PLUS a cape? The good news is the most complicated one is done. Think I should stick to the inner scouts only for my series or go crazy and do the outer ones as well?

Arrgh, I'll remember it eventually.
Nice pic by the way!

Yeah, very rare to see any fan art of this version, but I guess considering it was like the eariest version its not too surprising. Most people are most familiar with the anime version.
